"The Door to Freedom"[title 1] is the first episode of ABC Family's Switched at Birth Season Two, and it is the thirty-first episode of the series overall. It was written by Lizzy Weiss and directed by Steve Miner. It was premiered on January 7th, 2013.
Plot
Angelo uses his winnings from the trial to buy the Kennishes and the Vasquezes presents, which include a food truck for Daphne. Bay, now behaving studiously, is accused of cheating on her French test and is put up against Bucknerās honor board. Carlton starts a pilot program for kids with deaf siblings or parents.
Daphne and Emmett meet Teo, a new hearing student. Angelo and Regina start making plans for their future dream house. Melody makes Daphne take her Deaf Studies seminar since she no longer works at Maize. John decides to run for the state senate seat, even though itās originally Kathrynās dream.
Toby accidentally overhears Angelo and Lana talking about Lanaās pregnancy and how Angelo is the father. Toby reluctantly shares the Angelo news with Bay, who then takes it out on Angelo when he helps her at her honor board meeting. Chef Jeff puts a stop to Daphneās texting and tells her they can never see each other again. Daphne in turn tells Travis they will never get together. Later, Daphne apologizes and learns that Travisā parents are planning on kicking him out. Bay asks Daphne for help convincing her parents to transfer to Carltonās pilot program.

- Travis asks Daphne about the baseball player named, Dummy Hoy. This is referred to the movie called, "Dummy Hoy: A Deaf Hero", which the actor, who plays Travis, Ryan Lane, also played Dummy Hoy.
- Also, Dummy Hoy (b.1862 - d.1961) was actually real person, which his biography can be found on Wikipedia or other reliable sources.
